What Kind of Restaurant is Oreno French?
Oreno French is a French restaurant renowned for its outstanding value, part of the well-known “Oreno Group” chain. The restaurant’s standout feature is its ability to offer gourmet-quality dishes at just one-third the price of a high-end restaurant, making luxurious ingredients surprisingly accessible. Affordable pricing, exquisite flavor, and clever use of premium ingredients have made Oreno French a sensation on Japanese social media.
Despite the budget-friendly pricing, Oreno French never compromises on quality—using truffle, foie gras, and caviar, and preparing each dish with refined French culinary techniques. Every plate radiates fine-dining elegance.
The “Oreno Group” isn’t limited to French cuisine—it spans various global and Japanese cuisines, including Oreno Italian, Oreno Kappo, Oreno Yakitori, and Oreno Tempura Bar. Thanks to group purchasing, they’re able to reduce ingredient costs and pass the savings on to diners. This innovative business model has helped the Oreno brand become a rising star in Japan’s gourmet scene.
Where Can You Find Oreno French?
Currently, Oreno French has several locations across Tokyo and beyond, including branches in Tokyo, Otemachi, Kabukicho, Hakata, Yokohama, and Aoyama.
For our New Year’s Eve celebration, my husband and I decided to visit this much-talked-about French restaurant. We chose Oreno French Yokohama, conveniently located within walking distance of Yokohama Station.
Atmosphere & Dining Experience
When we arrived, other diners were already lining up outside. As soon as the clock struck the seating time, the staff warmly welcomed each guest inside.
While the restaurant aims to create an upscale ambiance, the atmosphere remains lively and relaxed. Guests were happily toasting and chatting, making it great for dates, gatherings, or special occasions. One notable highlight is the live music performance during dinner service. Enjoying fine food to the tune of live music added a romantic and celebratory feel to the evening.
The only downside was the tight spacing between tables, making the room feel a bit cramped. However, considering the quality of French cuisine at such reasonable prices, it’s a small trade-off.
Looking around, the clientele ranged from young couples in their 20s to older diners, showing the restaurant’s wide appeal. Some branches of Oreno French offer services for special occasions—like surprise birthday cakes. On our visit, one guest celebrated a birthday, and everyone joined in the celebration, creating a heartwarming vibe.
While making a reservation, I also discovered that the Aoyama branch offers special live performances for wedding anniversaries. It sounds so romantic—I definitely want to return and try that someday!
What We Ordered
Drinks
The menu includes Oreno Champagne, sparkling wine, red and white wines. Some vouchers can even be redeemed for a free bottle of sparkling wine. Birthday guests might even receive a complimentary bottle from the restaurant. Sadly, we didn’t drink on this visit, so I didn’t get to try them myself. But judging from the generous pours, wine lovers are sure to be pleased.
Non-alcoholic drink options are limited. I ordered a milk tea, which was average—pleasant, but nothing particularly special.

Appetizers: A Flavorful Start
Shortly after seating, a small plate of mixed nuts is served to every guest—perfect for whetting the appetite and pairing with drinks. Many diners opted for a wine-and-nut combo, creating a cozy, relaxed vibe.
We also ordered the Thinly Sliced Red Sea Bream Carpaccio, freshly delivered from Kochi Prefecture. The sashimi was exceptionally fresh and enhanced with alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes, bell peppers, and a house-made dressing that elevated the dish beautifully.
Another appetizer was the Chicken Liver Mousse with Baguette. The mousse was smooth and rich, complemented perfectly by the crisp slices of baguette. It had a subtle wine aroma, though the liver flavor might be a bit intense for some palates.
The serving was quite generous—a large scoop of mousse with relatively few baguette slices. We quickly ran out and had to order more bread. Even so, we couldn’t quite finish the mousse. It might be best paired with red or sparkling wine to better balance its richness.
Main Course Must-Try – Rossini-Style Wagyu Filet with Foie Gras
This signature dish of Oreno French features premium wagyu tenderloin topped with seared foie gras and finished with a rich French sauce. The dish is sometimes limited due to the rarity of ingredients, so it’s best to confirm availability in advance.
The wagyu filet was tender, lean, yet juicy—cooked perfectly medium-rare to bring out the pure flavor of the meat.
The seared foie gras was crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth soft on the inside. Combined with the rich sauce, every bite offered deep, layered flavors. I was genuinely amazed by how delicious it was.
Next time, I’m definitely trying the roasted duck breast—it also looked incredible!
Sweet Temptations – A Perfect Finale
No meal is complete without dessert. I ordered the Crème Brûlée with Vanilla Ice Cream. The silky crème brûlée paired with rich vanilla ice cream created a heavenly combination—every bite was filled with happiness.
Other desserts like Basque cheesecake and chocolate cake also looked incredibly tempting. I’m already looking forward to trying more of them on my next visit!
Final Thoughts – Gourmet French Cuisine with Great Value
This dining experience fully lived up to expectations! Every dish was satisfying and refined, offering the allure of high-end French cuisine in a casual and approachable environment. Oreno French truly brings luxury dining into everyday life, allowing guests to savor exquisite meals in a relaxed atmosphere.
The lively ambiance suits various occasions—from dates and birthdays to friendly gatherings or spontaneous indulgences. If you’re looking for affordable fine dining, this is the place to go!
